Morris made his first appearance on television in 1985, when he was 17 years old, as a contestant on the talent show New Faces. She tied for first place with her performance of “Holding Out for a Hero,” a Jim Steinman song that Bonnie Tyler made famous.
Morris got her big break in 1995 when she joined the ensemble cast of the popular Australian sketch comedy show Full Frontal. She had previously performed stand-up and variety shows for a few years.
