She is the former CEO of Elite Model Management, but according to a Delaware court, she does not own 50% of Elite World Group. She previously had her own shoe collection and worked as the creative director at the Italian luxury house La Perla. Haart is the subject of, and executive producer of, the Netflix miniseries My Unorthodox Life, which chronicles her decision to leave her Haredi community.

Haart filed a lawsuit against Silvio Scaglia in Delaware’s Chancery Court, where Freedom Holding Inc, the company that owns EWG’s shares, is based. Following a six-day trial in April, the New York Supreme Court issued a decision on Haart’s claims of spousal abuse by Scaglia on August 11, 2022.
The Court found that Haart’s allegations of abuse were untrue, that her initial petition for a family offense was “misleading,” and that her and her daughter’s testimony was “not credible”. The Court determined that Haart filed her petition and made public her false allegations in retaliation for being fired as CEO of Mr. Scaglia’s company, Elite World Group (“EWG”), and in an attempt to gain exclusive occupancy of his $65 million penthouse apartment at 70 Vestry Street.

Haart worked as a Judaic Studies teacher at Yeshiva Atlanta in the 1990s and early 2000s; “staff who knew her at the time – when she went by the name Talia Hendler – recalled that she was beloved by students and known for her sharp style,” according to the article. After leaving the Haredi community in 2013, Haart founded Julia Haart, a shoe company with the goal of creating shoes that were both fashionable and comfortable.
