Jonah Goldberg Pulitzer Controversy

In the book jacket of his second book, The Tyranny of Cliches: How Liberals Cheat in the War of Ideas, published in May 2012, Goldberg was billed as a “two-time Pulitzer Prize nominee.” According to NBC News reporter Bill Dedman, this is misleading because Goldberg was only an entrant in the Pulitzer contest and was never nominated as a finalist, as the moniker “Pulitzer nominee” would seem to imply.

To enter the Pulitzer Prize competition, the author of a written work must either submit an entry form with a small fee or have someone else do so on their behalf. Following Dedman’s reporting, Goldberg and his publishing company admitted their error and removed the line from the book jacket.
