Pienaar Career

Pienaar began his journalism career with the South London Press before moving on to become an Old Bailey correspondent. He then worked as a political reporter for The Independent, the Press Association, The Guardian, and, beginning in 1992, the BBC, on a variety of TV and radio news and current affairs shows.

In 2002, he was appointed chief political correspondent at Radio 5 Live, where he hosted a Sunday morning show called Pienaar’s Politics. He also co-hosted Question Time Extra Time (a radio supplement to BBC One’s Question Time) with Stephen Nolan and filled in on BBC Two’s Daily Politics. He served as BBC News’ deputy political editor from 2015 until 2020. Pienaar began introducing the drivetime pro.                                                                                                                                        He is a Crystal Palace Football Club supporter.
