Pelletier developed a modern-day rendition of James Ensor’s Christ’s Entry Into Brussels in 1889, titled American Fundamentalists: Christ’s Entry into Washington in 2008. Pelletier’s work adapts and expands on Ensor’s mockery of government, religious, and business leaders, recasting Jesus’ return in light of modern biblical interpretations of the late twentieth century American Christian Fundamentalist and Christian Dominionist movements, particularly those of Left Behind author and activist Tim LaHaye. The work has been shown in the United States and Europe, usually accompanied by presentations and discussions with the artist. Pelletier has produced a manifesto that critiques American fundamentalism. The topics covered include religion, politics, the economy, and companies.
