Between March 2006 and September 2007, Weisenthal worked as an analyst for the technology news blog Techdirt. Weisenthal joined Business Insider in October 2008 as the website’s lead financial blogger covering markets, finance, and economics, and was promoted to executive editor in February 2013. Weisenthal left Business Insider in October 2014 to join Bloomberg L.P. as managing editor of Bloomberg’s online markets and finance coverage, running the newly launched Bloomberg Markets website.
Weisenthal joined Bloomberg Television’s newly created markets show What’d You Miss? in June 2015, which he co-anchored with Alix Steel. The show is titled after one of Weisenthal’s favorite phrases, “What’d I miss?” which he tweets almost every morning. Weisenthal, Caroline Hyde, and Romaine Bostick co-anchor the show as of July 2021. Since 2015, Weisenthal and Tracy Alloway, a Bloomberg News executive editor based in Hong Kong, have co-hosted the business and finance podcast Odd Lots, which is now available on Bloomberg Podcasts and other podcasting platforms twice a week on Monday and Thursday.
