Jessica Chaffin Podcasts
From 2011 to 2017, Chaffin and comedic partner Jamie Denbo produced the Ronna and Beverly podcast on the Earwolf network, in which they interviewed celebrity guests, chatted with one another, and gave listeners advice. Chaffin and Denbo created their personas in 2006, when they were approached to organize an all-Jewish ‘Kosher Christmas Show’ at the Upright Citizens Brigade Theatre.
The pair’s live performances were frequently billed as “seminars” in which their characters discussed the fictional book they co-wrote, “You’ll Do a Little Better Next Time: A Guide to Marriage and Re-marriage for Jewish Singles.” After introducing the book, either Chaffin or Denbo would frequently clarify, “It says Jewish in the name, but it’s for everyone!”
Earwolf released episodes of their eponymous podcast once every two weeks. Guests included comedians, actors, authors, and filmmakers. The podcast premiered on May 25, 2011. In episode 161 on June 15, 2017 (not long after teasing the potential of weekly episodes), Ronna and Beverly abruptly stated they were leaving “for the summer.” Since then, there have been no new episodes, and the actresses have not been in character together. Jessica Chaffin has kept Ronna alive by appearing as a guest on other podcasts and running an Instagram account.
In November 2019, Chaffin and co-host Bryan Safi launched Ask Ronna, a new podcast in which she reprises her role as Ronna Glickman. Safi and Chaffin’s show focuses on listener advice and queries, and it frequently has a celebrity guest. Chaffin, as Glickman, sells artisanal coffees in connection with the Ask Ronna program.
Jessica Chaffin Sam & Cat
Chaffin appeared as Coco Wexler in Zoey 101, a role she reprised on Sam & Cat. Coco has been a PCA dorm adviser since girls were permitted to attend school there. She played minor roles in the first two seasons, but she gained personality over the series, becoming a very dramatic character with many problems, including her relationship with her boyfriend. She was also frequently seen carrying a can of ravioli.
Coco sat with Sam and Cat at the airport, waiting for her flight to her mother and Carl’s wedding. Coco is a really weird character who enjoys picking scabs and would never drop her ravioli if bees attacked her. She is also quite emotional, and she experiences emotional breakdowns when she is dumped.
