Jenna Lee Career
Lee worked as a freelance reporter for Marina Times, a San Francisco community newspaper, from 2002 to 2004 after graduating from UC Santa Barbara. She later attended Columbia University, where she worked at NY1 and freelanced for Forbes.com. She left NY1 to work full-time for Forbes. Lee attempted to choreograph a permanent routine in front of the camera while at Forbes. Fox Business Network hired her after seeing some of her on-camera work from her stint at Forbes.FOX News Chairman and CEO Roger Ailes hired Lee in 2007. When Fox Business Network debuted on October 15, 2007, the duo was the inaugural anchors of Fox Business Morning on Fox Business Network.
Lee was then recruited to FOX’s Money for Breakfast as a contributor and as an anchor for the web-only FoxBusiness.com Live Morning Edition, which debuted in February 2009. When Money for Breakfast was canceled in December 2009, Lee landed a spot on Imus in the Morning, the show that took its place. Fox Business Morning aired its final episode in May 2010, after which it was replaced as the lead-in to Imus in the Morning by Best of Imus. In July 2010, Lee departed Fox Business Network to join Fox News Channel, where she succeeded Jane Skinner as Jon Scott’s co-anchor on Happening Now. She was the first Fox Business Network personality to transition to Fox News Channel.
Lee revealed on Happening Now on June 2, 2017, that she was leaving Fox News immediately to pursue other projects and opportunities. Lee established SmartHer News in 2018, describing it as a “fact-based, nonpartisan” digital news platform. Lee was featured in the October 2009 issue of Cosmopolitan, along with a photo spread explaining her fashion approach.
