Janine Allis Shark Tank
Allis was a “shark” on the Australian edition of the television show Shark Tank. Shark Tank is an Australian reality competition television series that ran on Network Ten from 8 February 2015 to 7 August 2018 and featured aspiring entrepreneur-contestants making business presentations to a panel of “Shark” investors. Fox Studios Australia was used to film Shark Tank.
The show aired for four seasons. On October 31, 2018, it was reported that the show would not return for a fifth season in 2019. It was reported in March 2023 that the series would return to Network 10 later that year, with a new panel of investors to be named, and would be produced by Curio Pictures. Network 10 unveiled the new investor panel on March 22, 2023.

Following the success of her juice business, Allis and her husband decided to broaden their operations by founding Retail Zoo in 2007, which they utilize to buy and build additional retail food franchises.
Retail Zoo’s first acquisition was the four-location Mexican food company Salsa’s Fresh Mex Grill in 2007. Retail Zoo paid AU$15 million to purchase the 20-store Cibo Espresso in 2012. Betty’s Burgers & Concrete Company, an American-style hamburger diner franchise, was launched by Retail Zoo in 2014.
In 2010, the Riverside Company paid an unknown sum for an equity position in Retail Zoo, with Allis continuing in charge. Riverside sold its shareholding to Bain Capital four years later. Following the transaction, Bain owned 70% of the company, with Allis owning the remainder.

At the age of 17, Allis began working as a media assistant at the advertising agency McCann-Erickson. She went on to work as an assistant gym manager as well as a model. Her early career also includes positions as a nanny in France, a promotions executive in Portugal, and a camp counselor in the United States. Allis has also worked as a stewardess on David Bowie’s yacht, as a senior manager for a Singapore cinema chain, as a publicist for United International Pictures, and as a publisher, author, and touring agent for comedians from the United States.
Since April 2021, Allis has served as an independent non-executive director at Kogan. Allis competed in the sixth season of Australian Survivor in 2019. She was eliminated on day 44 and placed sixth overall.
