Janet Varney is an actress, comedian, writer, and producer from the United States. Varney is best known for her role as Korra in the Nickelodeon animated television series The Legend of Korra. She first appeared on television in 2004 as a guest on the Comedy Central debate show Crossballs.

She is the co-founder, creative director, and producer of San Francisco’s long-running comedy festival, SF Sketchfest. Varney made her television debut in 2004 as a guest on Crossballs, a Comedy Central debate show. She has appeared as a guest star in a number of television shows, including Bones, Better Off Ted, How I Met Your Mother, Hot in Cleveland, and Psych. Varney has appeared in recurring roles on the HBO shows Entourage, Burning Love, Country Comfort, You’re the Worst, and Take My Wife.

Varney created, produced, and starred in Fortune Rookie, an eight-episode web series presented by IFC, in 2018. Varney took over as host of the TBS cooking and entertainment show Dinner and a Movie in 2005, succeeding Lisa Kushell. She appeared in each episode alongside Paul Gilmartin and Claud Mann, introducing films and injecting humor during the preparation of a creative dinner for some themes. In 2011, the show was canceled. Varney and fellow SF Sketchfest co-founder Cole Stratton have written and performed several comedic audio commentaries for films.
