Soares has covered the humanitarian crisis in Venezuela and on the border with Colombia as a correspondent, and she won an Emmy Award for her investigation into President Maduro’s gold mining in Venezuela. She went undercover in Caracas in 2020 to expose the heinous conditions in Venezuela’s public hospitals during the Covid-19 pandemic, for which she was nominated for an Emmy.

Soares used exclusive reports from the Amazon to draw attention to the plight of Brazil’s Yanomami indigenous tribe in 2020 and 2021.
