In 1993, he made his acting debut in Todd Field’s AFI Conservatory project, Delivering. He then played “Young Earp” to Kevin Costner’s “Wyatt” in Lawrence Kasdan’s Oscar-nominated 1994 film Wyatt Earp. Bohen was cast as Young Hercules in Hercules: The Legendary Journeys in 1997. Throughout the series, he appeared in flashbacks as the young hero. Young Hercules, a spin-off of the popular show, was made into a television movie, with Bohen reprising his role as Hercules in his formative years. A children’s television series was later commissioned, but Bohen declined to reprise his role because he refused to relocate to New Zealand full-time. He appeared in ten episodes of Any Day Between 1998 and 2001.

Bohen appeared as the natural father of supporting character Rusty Beck in four episodes of Major Crimes. Bohen played Peter Hale in an episode of MTV’s Teen Wolf. He appeared in 42 episodes over the course of the show’s final two seasons. Bohen relished the opportunity to play Hale, a morally ambiguous character. The film was released on September 28, 2018, to commemorate the 150th anniversary of the book. Bohen later appeared as Mitch Anderson in the second season of Superman & Lois. In September 2021, it was announced that Paramount+ had ordered a reunion film for the 2011 Teen Wolf television series, with Jeff Davis returning as a screenwriter and executive producer. The majority of the original cast members would return, including Bohen himself. The movie came out on January 26, 2023.
