In August, she appeared in The Drums’ music video “There Is Nothing Left.” She was named to the Forward 50, a selection of the year’s 50 most prominent Jewish-Americans, by the Forward newspaper.
For their September 2016 issue, Elle issued special collectors’ covers, one of which featured Nef, who was the first openly transgender woman to appear on the cover of a major commercial British magazine. Nef appeared alongside Blake Lively, Lara Stone, and Xiao Wen Ju in a television commercial for the L’Oréal Paris True Match collection in January 2017. The advertising made its debut during the 2017 Golden Globe Awards.
