Grant Goodeve Career

His first appearance was in a fifth-season episode of Emergency! He joined the cast of Eight Is Enough, taking over a part occupied by Mark Hamill in the series’ premiere episode. Goodeve appeared in episodes of The Love Boat, T. J. Hooker, Dynasty, and Fantasy Island as a guest star. He had a little part in the television pilot The Night Watchman. Goodeve hosted the syndicated show Solid Gold Hits in the summer of 1984. On the ABC soap drama One Life to Live, he portrayed Michael James “Woody” Woodward. He appeared in the made-for-television film Pigs vs. Freaks. He also appeared as a celebrity guest participant on Pyramid game programs in the late 1970s and early 1980s.

During the late 1980s, he revisited his Eight Is Enough role in two reunion films, and he also starred in several episodes of Murder, She Wrote. As the 1990s came to a conclusion, he appeared as Captain Jack Smith on The WB’s hit series 7th Heaven. Goodeve hosted the Word Pictures production Proving the Bible Through Archaeology in 2000. Goodeve and his family relocated to the Pacific Northwest in 1989. Soon after, he began recurring on the CBS series Northern Exposure as Rick Pedersen, an ill-fated bush pilot. In addition, he began contributing to KING-TV’s Evening Magazine and hosting the travel show Northwest Backroads in 1998. Grant had hosted it for the previous 16 years.

He hosted If Walls Could Talk and Homes of Our Heritage on Home & Garden Television from 2000 to 2004. He has provided voices for several video games, notably Wolf O’Donnell in Star Fox: Assault, the Engineer in Team Fortress 2, and various characters in F.E.A.R. He has contributed to Bob Rivers’ Twisted Christmas series of holiday CDs. Goodeve played George Bailey in Taproot Theatre Company’s performance of It’s a Wonderful Life: A Live Radio Play in 2006. He returned to the Taproot stage as Old Jake in the 2008 performance of The Christmas Foundling. Goodeve also appears in a safety film for Amtrak Cascades.
