Field Adrianus Cate is an American actor and musician. He is best recognized for his lead role as young Ned in the fantasy comedic drama Pushing Daisies (2007-2009). He is currently the lead singer and guitarist for the American rock duo Fencer.

Cate began her professional career at the age of five, performing improvisational comedy, independent films, commercials, and other projects. He also features in Placebo’s music video for “Song to Say Goodbye”. He appeared in guest parts on several television shows, including Without a Trace and Cold Case. His most prominent performance was as Young Ned on ABC’s Pushing Daisies, where he joined the cast as a regular in season 2 and received a Young Artist Award nomination in 2008. Cate, who was raised vegetarian, spoke out on behalf of PETA, an animal rights organization. He also sponsored organizations such as Mattel Children’s Hospital and was a StarPower Ambassador for the Starlight Children’s Foundation. In May 2017, his band Fencer released their first EP, With; and in February 2019, they released a music video for their single “Junebug.”Their second EP, Growing Up Selfish, was released on November 1, 2019. Their debut album, Fencer, was released on February 3, 2023. The album was self produced.
