Love was arrested on a misdemeanor assault charge in Columbus, Ohio on March 7, 2017. At John Glenn Columbus International Airport, an altercation with a valet occurred, with video evidence showing Love grabbing the valet behind the neck in the baggage claim area.

Love began his career as a stand-up comedian at the age of 15 and made his Broadway debut at the age of 19. In his film debut, Bebe’s Kids, he provided the voice of comedian Robin Harris, who died before filming began; Love provided a close vocal impression of Harris. He then appeared in The Meteor Man, alongside Robert Townsend. Love was then cast as a co-star in Townsend’s sitcom The Parent ‘Hood. In the 1995 film Friday, he had a breakthrough performance as the drug supplier Big Worm. 3 Strikes, Elf, Don’t Be a Menace to South Central While Drinking Your Juice in the Hood, Money Talks, Wonderland, and others have followed.

Love made a cameo appearance in the Ludacris single “Freaky Thangs” from the album Word of Mouf in 2001. He appeared as a bus driver in the music video for Lil Jon & The East Side Boys’ single “Put Yo Hood Up” the same year. Love provided the voice for Grand Theft Auto: San Andreas in the video game (2004),. Couples Retreat (2009), a comedy film about four couples who attend therapy sessions at a tropical island resort, starred him. He portrayed Stringer Bell in a satirical trailer for The Wire: The Musical in 2012. In June of that year, he began appearing in a series of Boost Mobile commercials promoting the company’s new 4G phones.
