She appeared in 20 plays during her four years of college and her professional acting career began at the age of 21 when she was cast as Anna, a young German schoolgirl, in the play Spring Awakening . Kinney appeared in the play August: Osage County the next year as Jean Fordham. She was then cast in the role of Emily on Showtime’s The Big C. Later, Kinney guest starred as Jeannie Richmonds on NBC’s Law & Order: Criminal Intent. Kinney made her cinematic debut as Gina in Aunt Tigress. Kinney continued to appear in frequent guest and cameo parts in films and television shows.
