Elwood Cruz is a Puerto Rican news anchor and reporter. He was the host of ABC 5 Puerto Rico’s talk show En Record. He began his career at Wapa Television as a production assistant on the morning show “Hoy.” In July 1986, he joined Tele-Once as a video editor.

In 1984, he received a magna cum laude in Communication Arts with a concentration in Radio, Television, and Cinema from the University of Puerto Rico’s Communications School in Rio Piedras. That same year, he began working as a production assistant on Wapa Television’s morning show “Hoy.” In July 1986, he joined Tele-Once as a video editor. Three months later, the director of the news department asked him to stand in for the sports anchor on “Las Noticias” for two weeks.
Elwood began working as the anchor reporter for Univisión PR’s morning show “Tu Maana” in June 2002. During his sports journalism career, he covered the 1993 Central American and Caribbean Games in Ponce, as well as the 1996 Summer Olympics in Atlanta, Georgia. He has also interviewed Michael Jordan, J Balvin, Magic Johnson, and Tito Trinidad, among others. He began hosting and presenting the ABC-5 Puerto Rico program “En Record” in November 2014. He also worked as a newscaster for the “Lente Viral” cyber platform. Cruz’s work has earned him the Intre, Quijote, Agüeybana, and Paoli Awards, as well as the Overseas Press Club.
