Carron began working as an assistant editor at The Tribune newspaper in Nassau, which was founded by her grandfather, Leon Dupuch, and edited by her father, Etienne, in 1962. She was called to the Bahamas Bar the same year. She was only the Bahamas’ second female publisher when she became publisher of The Tribune in 1972. She was the Bahamas’ longest-serving editor and publisher as of August 2019, having served for 47 years. The International Press Institute honored her for her “unwavering commitment to free expression and the highest journalistic standards.” Carron was the first CEO of a private radio station, The People’s Radio Station, 100 JAMZ, in 1993. Carron became the Bahamas’ first female pilot in her twenties. She was only the second woman to be summoned to the Bahamas Bar. She is the only Bahamian whose editorial was read into the United States Senate record. She was made a Companion of the Order of St Michael and St George in 2000.
