He is most known for his victory in the 2014 reality television series Big Brother 16. On March 31, 2016, Levasseur revealed that he would appear on Investigation Discovery in the upcoming Martin Sheen-produced series Hard Evidence: Is OJ Innocent. Levasseur previously worked as a police officer in Central Falls, Rhode Island. He hosted two seasons of Investigation Discovery’s Breaking Homicide. Derrick also co-hosts two podcasts: Crime Weekly, with YouTuber Stephanie Harlowe, and The Winner’s Circle, with fellow Big Brother winner Cody Calafiore, where they discuss the current season of Big Brother.

Levasseur is a renowned Rhode Island police sergeant from Central Falls. He was one of the department’s youngest officers, hired at the age of twenty, and worked in both the Patrol Division and the Detective Division. Later, he was sent to the Special Investigations Unit as an undercover detective, where he collaborated with the ATF, DEA, FBI, and US Secret Service, resulting in multiple arrests and seizures. He has extensive training in crime scene analysis, interview and interrogation tactics, and covert operations, in addition to his field experience. Levasseur responded to a 911 call for assistance in April 2007, while on patrol.

Levasseur received numerous accolades throughout his service, including letters of distinction, unit citations, commendations, and the Medal of Valour, the greatest honor a sworn officer may get. He received the American Red Cross “Hero Award” in 2017 after rescuing seven people from a burning building. Levasseur worked as a cop for 13 years.
