Newman began her career as a cameraperson for a local South Carolina station during the summer. Newman joined The Talk Radio News Service as a correspondent, covering White House briefings and Capitol Hill meetings. Newman worked as a programming assistant for The WB in Washington, D.C. In 2002, she was named “Employee of the Year” by Tribune Media. At Washington Media Associates, Newman worked as a production associate for the PBS shows FRONTLINE and NOW with Bill Moyers. In 2003, Newman relocated to New York City. She worked on CBS’s prime-time news show 48 Hours, as well as freelance research and camera work for PBS documentaries and series.
She founded DCN Creative and launched the websites Equitrekking.com and EquitrekkingTravel.com, as well as producing early micro-niche online video for Brightcove, which was featured in BusinessWeek’s “Blogspotting.” She produced the pilot episode of Equitrekking, the first travel TV show to explore the world on horseback, while in New York City.
