He started his career in radio reporting while I was still a journalism/broadcasting student at Baylor University. He started his career as a television reporter for KWTX-CBS in Waco in 1979, then moved to Port Arthur and worked as a weekend sports anchor for KJAC-NBC. He left athletics after five years to work in radio management in Tyler before returning to Beaumont in 1986 to establish Newstalk 560 KLVI, Southeast Texas’ first daily talk radio show. In 1987, his uncle Larry encouraged him to join the Channel Six News team, and he briefly co-anchored the 10 p.m. news with Sally Rieger. He was thrilled at the chance to work the morning shift with co-anchors like Melissa Daigle, as you might anticipate.
Each day is a whirlwind of activity. He also got the opportunity to do sports play-by-play for Lamar Baseball and Basketball during his stint at Channel Six. A few years ago, he returned to his roots and talk radio. He has anchored “Gresham Live” on Newstalk 560 KLVI every weekday afternoon for nearly four years. Although he has been known to conduct double-feature movie days, he prefers to spend his free time outside. He is a tennis enthusiast who enjoys traveling and has already accomplished one goal by attending the US Open in New York City.
