Roberts began his career as a theatre artist, performing in both Broadway and off-Broadway productions. Lanford Wilson’s ‘Burn This’ (2002) was one of his first significant acting endeavors. The play was about homosexual identities, and Roberts appeared alongside Edward Norton and Catherine Keener on stage. During his early career, he was nominated for a ‘Drama Desk Award’ for his portrayal in Adam Rapp’s ‘Nocturne.’ One of his major projects was Caryl Churchill’s ‘A Number.’ One of his earliest film projects was an adaptation of Michael Cunningham’s novel ‘A Home at the End of the World (2004).
