Craig Price Murder Cases

Price committed his first murder at the age of 13 in Warwick, Rhode Island on the night of July 27, 1987. He broke into a home only two houses away from his own, got a knife from the kitchen, and stabbed 27-year-old Rebecca Spencer 58 times, killing her.

On September 1, 1989, Price, then a 15-year-old freshman in high school, murdered three other neighbors. After taking LSD and marijuana, Price stabbed 39-year-old Joan Heaton 57 times, her 10-year-old daughter Jennifer 62 times, crushing Heaton’s 7-year-old daughter Melissa’s skull, and inflicted 30 stab wounds on her. Jennifer also saw Price stabbing her mother to death in the kitchen. The knives he used were so viciously stabbed that the handles snapped off, leaving the blades inside the victims’ bodies—one of the knives was embedded in the neck of Jennifer, a ten-year-old girl.

Because Price’s records were sealed, the extent of the murders’ cruelty was largely unknown at the time. Law enforcement officials claim that Price had no regrets when he confessed to the crimes. As for the motivation, Price stated that racism from white people, which he had experienced since he was a young child, was a factor. Price also claimed that the first time he had wanted someone to die was after he was a small child and some white adults had allegedly called him racist epithets and attempted to run him over with their car.

Craig Price Arrest

After leaving the Adult Correctional Institutions in Cranston, Price has reportedly been arrested twice for fighting, according to a Rhode Island Department of Corrections official. Price’s release date was scheduled for May 2020, but in March 2009, he was denied parole. Because of his aggressive inclinations, he was sent from Rhode Island to serve his time in Florida in 2004.

On July 29, 2009, Craig got into a brawl with another prisoner in Florida. A homemade shiv in Price’s possession wounded one of the correctional officers in the finger as he attempted to break up the brawl. Following the altercation within the prison, Price was sent to a different location. At the Suwannee Correctional Institution in Live Oak, Florida, on April 4, 2017, Price was charged with stabbing fellow prisoner Joshua Davis with a 5-inch handmade knife. He was given a 25-year term on January 18, 2019, for the offense.
