Lofton’s first significant TV role was also his longest, as Jake Sisko, the son of the protagonist character, Benjamin Sisko, on the science fiction TV series Star Trek: Deep Space Nine, which ran from 1993 to 1999. In the episode “PK” of 7th Heaven from September 2003, he played Maynard, a preacher’s son who attended Harvard. He played Curtis Thorpe, a professional basketball player, on the Showtime drama series The Hoop Life, and Anthony Carter, a law student, on the show Soul Food. Lofton portrayed Tommy Boyer in the CBS television series CSI: Miami episode “Darkroom” from 2006.
