Chris Ortloff Career
From 1970 to 1972, he served two tours of duty in Vietnam. Ortloff was the Lake Placid Olympic Organizing Committee’s Chief of Ceremonies and Awards for the 1980 Winter Olympics in Lake Placid. From 1982 to 1986, he was a news anchor for WPTZ TV (an NBC affiliate). He ran for office as a Republican. On February 18, 1986, he was elected to the New York State Assembly to fill the vacancy left by Andrew W. Ryan, Jr.’s election as D.A. of Clinton County. Ortloff was re-elected numerous times and served in the New York State Legislatures until 2006. Following that, he was appointed to the New York State Parole Board.

Ortloff was arrested on federal charges of attempting to solicit sex with minors on October 13, 2008. He pleaded guilty to a felony charge of online enticement of minors on December 24, 2008. His sentencing was originally scheduled for April 23, 2009, but it was pushed back four times, first to August 11, 2009 then to November 9, 2009[5,] March 8, 2010, and finally to July 13, 2010. Prior to his actual sentencing, Ortloff surrendered to authorities and began serving time. He was finally sentenced on August 9, 2010, to 150 months in prison, lifetime supervision, and a $50,000 fine. Ortloff was incarcerated at the Federal Correctional Institution, Danbury, as of February 2019. He was released in October of this year.
