She is possibly best remembered for her roles as Vera Sanchez in Friday the 13th Part III in 1982 and Weekend at Bernie’s in 1989. Parks was born in Orlando and raised in Tampa, Florida. She attended the University of South Florida as a theatre major after graduating from Leto High School. Parks began competing in beauty pageants while still living in Florida, winning Miss Hillsborough County and Miss Florida before finishing second in the Miss America pageant in 1978. She became a member of the Screen Actors Guild after acting in the film Looker. Her first television appearance was on Behind the Screen, and she later had a recurring part in the short-lived CBS sitcom Zorro and Son in 1983. Parks has been in episodes of The Love Boat, Three’s Company, Mickey Spillane’s Mike Hammer, Street Hawk, Tales from the Darkside, Hunter, and Empty Nest. Parks left Hollywood in 2005 and now lives in Tampa. She is still an actress and works as a writer, producer, and actress on numerous film and television projects.
