He began his career as a reporter at ABC21 in 2008. McElhatten previously worked as a co-host and correspondent for the nationally syndicated newsmagazine “The List,” where he covered consumer and financial concerns. His profession took him to Las Vegas for the International Consumer Electronics Show, where he helped consumers sort through the marketing and gimmicks to uncover innovations they could use. He also provided stories about the Super Bowl. McElhatten earned four Emmys during his stint on “The List.” McElhatten previously reported on breaking news for ABC 15 in Phoenix, Arizona.
He was on the ground reporting from Tucson just hours after former Representative Gabrielle Giffords was shot. McElhatten also managed live coverage of the Wallow Fire, Arizona’s largest wildfire. As part of his environmental reporting, he traveled to the highlands to show viewers how state and federal officials manage one of the world’s most endangered wolf populations. During national news stories, McElhatten also worked as a live reporter for the Scripps television station group in the Southwest.
