Lyons founded his own production firm in 2002 and began producing parts for the television show Hip-Hop Nation. MTV hired him to co-host Your Movie Show in 2004. Lyons anchored entertainment segments on The Daily 10 in 2006. In addition, he began writing a column called “The Lyons Den” for E! Online. Lyons has acted in Disaster Movie and The House Bunny and hosted My Family’s Got GUTS on Nickelodeon. He is a frequent guest on Good Morning America. Lyons departed E! in 2012 to become a journalist for Extra. Lyons also became a pundit for ESPN in 2012.
Lyons joined the cast of the TV program At the Movies in September 2008. Lyons was accused of lacking a thorough grasp of cinema history, using language that sounded like movie promotion (in order to raise his own image), and having a conflict of interest with some of the performers whose films he reviewed. Lyons was implicitly criticized by Roger Ebert in his online blog. Lyons and his co-host, Ben Mankiewicz, were sacked from the show in August 2009, less than a year later.
