She began her career as a member of the original cast of Lanford Wilson’s The Hot In Baltimore, an off-Broadway play. Her performance earned her both the Drama Desk Award and the Obie Award. She also received the Theatre World Best Actress Award for her performance in The Sea Horse. Conchata then made her television debut as a frontier wife in the 1979 film Heartland, Mystic Pizza, and the 1980s sitcom E/R. Her most recent projects include The Villisca Axe Murders, The Ranch, A Very Nutty Christmas, and Deported. In 2020, Arnie moved into a long-term care facility several months before she suffered a heart attack. She died peacefully at the Sherman Oaks Hospital in California on October 13, 2020. Arnie and Ferrell had one daughter named Samantha and two step-children.
