McPartlin was arrested on suspicion of drink-driving after being involved in a traffic crash in London on March 18, 2018. The next day, on March 19, he met with Donnelly and ITV and agreed to take a break from presenting in order to return to rehab for further treatment.
On April 16, 2018, he was interviewed under caution and then charged with drunk driving. McPartlin pled guilty to the offense at Wimbledon Magistrates’ Court the following month, receiving a 20-month driving suspension and an £86,000 fine, Britain’s highest-ever penalty for drink-driving. He had previously been prohibited from driving for 30 days and fined £350 for exceeding 127 mph (204 km/h) on the A1(M) motorway.

From then on, McPartlin and Donnelly collaborated on television, forming the presenting pair Ant & Dec. In 2007, it was determined that Ant & Dec’s Gameshow Marathon and Ant & Dec’s Saturday Night Takeaway, which he co-hosted with Donnelly, had scammed fans who participated in phone-ins. The latter was created by the pair’s own production firm.
Ant & Dec gained international fame in April 2009 when, as backstage commentators for Britain’s Got Talent, they interviewed applicant Susan Boyle, whose audition became the year’s most-viewed YouTube video and whose record album topped sales charts in dozens of countries.

McPartlin was an intense Work Party ally until the 2010 political decision, when he decided in favor of the Moderate Party. In February 2013, he advised The Watchman paper that he would battle to legitimize deciding in favor of either ideological group from now on.
In August 2018 McPartlin reported he would be having some time off from TV introducing obligations until 2019. In January 2019, McPartlin got back to his TV obligations close by Donnelly at the England Has Ability tryouts.
McPartlin’s most memorable appearance on TV was on the kids’ studio program Why not?, however his huge break came when he rose to unmistakable quality playing the personality of PJ in the CBBC series Byker Woods. It was during his experience on the program that he initially met Declan Donnelly, who was projected in the piece of Duncan. The pair shaped a dear companionship on the program, both socially and expertly, with the men proceeding as their characters until their takeoff from the program in 1993. The pair kept on keeping up with work in acting, featuring in a recognition for The Logical Fellows, as a redo of an episode from the show’s spin-off Whatever Happened to the Possible Chaps? named “No Concealing Spot”. In 2006, McPartlin and Donnelly featured together in the film Outsider Post-mortem.
