Anne Doyle is an American journalist and one of the first female TV sports announcers in the United States. From 1978 until 1983, I worked as a sports reporter and anchor for WJBK, a CBS-TV affiliate in Detroit.

Doyle is the president of the International Women’s Forum’s Michigan branch and the author of Powering Up: How America’s Women Achievers Become Leaders. She is the daughter of former Detroit sports commentator Vince Doyle, who died from heart disease in 1990. She gained her first exposure in reporting and journalism while interning for WUOM, the university’s NPR station, as a news anchor and reporter. In 2000, while working for Ford Motor Company, she enrolled in numerous classes at Harvard’s Kennedy School of Business. While working for Ford, Doyle was honored by Automotive News as one of the 100 Leading Women in the Auto Industry.
In 1978, Doyle was hired as one of the first female big TV sports anchors and reporters in the United States. In May 2006, the Detroit Free Press wrote about Doyle, “In places that reeked of testosterone, Anne Doyle spent years breaking down barriers for women and letting in fresh air.” From the locker room to the boardroom, she was a woman succeeding in a male-dominated world.” She attempted several times to enter professional sports locker rooms to report, but was repeatedly denied. Doyle would cover the NFL, NBA, NHL, MLB, NASCAR, Formula One, and Big Ten conferences, as well as the World Series, Super Bowl, and several Rose Bowls.
Before covering sports, Doyle worked as a radio and television news reporter and anchor in Los Angeles, Detroit, Grand Rapids, and Lansing, Michigan. She was also a news editor for United Press International, where she worked in the Atlanta bureau and wrote for the Detroit Free Press. Doyle subsequently left her work as a sports writer to join Ford Motor Company’s communications division in the 1980s. She was appointed to the role of Director of North American Communications (1987–2001). Her work entailed collaborating with influential authorities such as union officials and members of Congress. She was a member of the management team that handled the Firestone Tires and Ford Explorer crises.

Doyle authored pieces for Forbes magazine from 2011 to 2014 while sitting on Auburn Hills, Michigan’s city council (2010-2013).
