Tymon started her career as a communications major with a minor in dance at Louisiana State University. She spent one year as a member of the NFL’s New Orleans Saints dance squad and two years with the NBA’s New Orleans Hornets. In her junior year, she switched to California State University, Northridge to study broadcast journalism.
While studying broadcast journalism at Cal State Northridge, she anchored, produced, wrote, and edited Valley View News, the university’s public television newscast. Tymon received a 2007 Edward R. Murrow Regional Award for feature reporting. She received the award for her work on Dimples Karaoke Bar, which was described as the first karaoke bar in the United States.
Tymon reported for KCSN-FM, a public radio station run by Cal State Northridge. Tymon’s contributions to the article were also honored by the Society of Professional Journalists. In November 2006, she started working as an intern at PlayMania. She held many additional positions at the network before being elevated to on-air host in April 2007. She hosted her first complete show on April 22, 2007, and continued until the program ended in October 2007. Tymon also taught in an elementary school.
