Andrea was based in Bogota, Colombia, reporting for the country’s major morning TV news program, 7.30 Caracol, after working for US broadcasters NBC and major Public Radio in the mid-1990s. She subsequently worked in marketing and promotions in Italy for a year before returning to Chicago in late 1998 to become the noon news voice of ABC radio station Newstalk 89 WLS. She joined JazzRadio 101.9 in Berlin as promotions director in 2000 before returning to broadcasting with Deutsche Welle, Germany’s international broadcaster. Before returning to Berlin and DW in 2003, Sanke worked for a few months as a caretaker for abandoned and socially underprivileged children in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil.
Sanke moved to London after nearly five years of presenting news and business, where she began anchoring and reporting for CNN International in different news, business, and features shows. As the prime time presenter for France 24, she eventually left London for Paris to create France’s first 24-hour international news channel in English. After three years in France, Sanke traveled for six years before settling in Cape Town, South Africa, where she taught high school pupils history at the University of Cape Town. She fostered teenage girls as a qualified emergency care parent. She spoke at the TRT World Forum’s inaugural session in October 2017. Sanke was hired in 2015 to present for TRT World, where she remains in her capacity as a journalist and senior presenter until today. She was Also a presenter at Stratcom 2023.
