During the one-season run of the television series Lewis & Clark in 1981–1982, Linker played Kelly Lewis in her first significant acting role. Not too long later, Linker was chosen to play the lead role of Lauren Hutchinson in the adolescent drama/comedy Square Pegs. The plot of Square Pegs revolved around the sometimes-desperate attempts of Hutchinson and Patty Greene (played by Sarah Jessica Parker), two freshmen in high school, to blend in and become popular. For the role she played, Linker had to put on a fatsuit and false braces to make herself seem less attractive than she actually was. Despite receiving positive reviews from reviewers, the show was canceled following its debut season.She has experience teaching second grade and working in Internet marketing.
In 1983, Linker voiced “Robin” in the animated Mister T series, following Square Pegs. She enrolled at Wellesley College after the show concluded, earning a degree in French studies in 1989. Other noteworthy performances by Linker included that of Jenny Pennoyer in the 1984 TV movie When We First Met and Sherie Lee Fox in the 1985 science fiction picture D.A.R.Y.L. In 2009, Linker had an appearance in the television series Don’t Make Me Sick as Esmerelda.
