He subsequently relocated to Western Australia, where he worked as a reporter for Golden West News in Kalgoorlie and then Bunbury, where he also became a sports presenter for GWN7. He then began working as a general reporter for Seven News in Perth in 2006, before switching to Sunrise in 2007. Cullen began working as a correspondent for Prime News in Wagga Wagga in early 2003.
