Adriano Zumbo is an Australian pastry chef and television host. He opened his first patisserie in 2007 before becoming a regular on MasterChef Australia. Zumbo is the host of the Australian baking competition show Zumbo’s Just Desserts, as well as a judge on the Netflix web series Sugar Rush.

Within three days of the episode airing, he had sold 5000 macarons at his Balmain shop, which was four times the normal rate. Zumbo’s vanilla V8 cake, which has layers of vanilla glaze, crème chantilly, water gel, macaron, brulee, chiffon, syrup, ganache, almond crunch, and almond dacquoise, was featured as a challenging dish in the 2010 season of Masterchef. The cake was created in honor of Margaret Fulton’s 85th birthday and was named after the eight vanilla textures. Zumbo appears as a judge alongside Candace Nelson in the 2018 Netflix series Sugar Rush, hosted by Hunter March. Sugar Rush is a Netflix-baking reality television series that premiered on July 13, 2018. The series features four professional teams of two competing in a baking competition for a prize of $10,000. In three rounds, teams of two bakers compete. The first round consists of cupcakes, the second of confections, and the third of the cake. Sugar Rush: Extra Sweet, the third season, is the series’ first spin-off season, in which if a team wins either a cupcake or confection challenge, they can choose between an additional 15-minute time in the final cake challenge or a $1,500 prize.

Zumbo is an Australian observational documentary television series following patissier Adriano Zumbo at his Balmain, Sydney kitchen business. The show debuted on February 10, 2011, and lasted six episodes. It aired on SBS One on Thursdays at 7:30 p.m.

Adriano’s signature dish is the macaron, and the first episode focused on the buildup to ‘Macaron Day,’ when the kitchen produces nearly 30,000 multicolored macarons.
