Virk was born in Toronto, Ontario to Zakaria and Taherah Virk, who emigrated from Punjab, Pakistan. The family moved to Kingston in 1984, then to Morven, a tiny hamlet just outside Kingston, in 1989, where his parents owned and operated a petrol station and Zack’s Variety store. Virk attended Ryerson Polytechnical Institute after graduating from Ernestown Secondary School, where he played basketball and soccer.

Adnan Virk ESPN

Virk joined the ESPN family of stations in Bristol, Connecticut, in April 2010. He became one of three key anchors for Baseball Tonight after joining ESPN. He began announcing play-by-play for an ESPN affiliate during spring training in 2014. He hosted SportsCenter and Outside the Lines during the baseball offseason. On Olbermann, he would also step in for Keith Olbermann. He was the host of the ESPN movie podcast Cinephile. He was also the primary studio host for ESPN College Football and hosted the College Football Final.

Virk was sacked on February 3, 2019, following an inquiry into ESPN information breaches to the media. Later, Virk and ESPN agreed not to take legal action against each other.

Adnan Virk MLB Network

Virk was confirmed as the host of the new MLB studio program ChangeUp for DAZN, a subscription streaming media service located in London, in March 2019. Virk also appeared on MLB Network. He also organized boxing matches.

ChangeUp was canceled just before the 2020 MLB season. His contract with DAZN was set to expire in 2022. He presently co-hosts MLB Tonight and appears on the NHL Network.

Adnan Virk Career

Virk hosted various programs on The Score and worked as an assistant producer for TSN’s Sportscentre from 2003 to 2009. At Omni Television, he also co-hosted Omniculture and Bollywood Boulevard. In 2009, he became a host and reporter for Raptors TV, Leafs TV, and Gol TV Canada for Maple Leafs Sports and Entertainment (MLSE).

Virk was appointed as the new play-by-play commentator for Monday Night Raw, replacing Tom Phillips, on April 12, 2021. However, six weeks later, on May 25, he and the company mutually split ties because Adnan said the schedule was too demanding for him and his family.

Jimmy Smith took his position. Virk made his feature film debut in 2023 as a sports broadcaster in George Tillman Jr.’s biopic of former heavyweight boxing champion Big George Foreman.
