Emily Procter is an actress and activist from the United States. She portrayed Det. Calleigh Duquesne in the CBS police procedural program CSI: Miami and Ainsley Hayes in the NBC political drama The West Wing.

She was adopted as a baby by volunteer Barbara Jones and general practitioner William Procter. Her parents separated when she was three years old. Whit, her elder brother, was also adopted. Procter went to Raleigh’s Ravenscroft School. She worked as a television weather anchor at WNCT-TV in Greenville, North Carolina, while attending East Carolina University, where she also joined the Alpha Delta Pi sorority. Ursula, Phoebe’s twin sister, is someone Joey and Chandler encounter in “The One with Two Parts,” however she opposes Joey’s continued relationship with her. Rather, Joey goes out with Ursula to Phoebe’s birthday celebration. The group visits the hospital in “The One With The Birth,” where Carol is giving birth to Ross and her child. Joey leaves her a balloon and supports her during the experience.

Procter owns a 1921 Spanish-style home in Los Angeles, which she uses as a practical example of her interest in interior design and antiques. She designed a house for a friend in Saint John, U.S. Virgin Islands, during the 2007–08 Writers Guild strike. Procter established Ground Breakers, a nonprofit that promotes community, transformation, and fair infrastructure, in 2019. To counteract unfavorable personal narratives and advance amicable conflict resolution, The Ground Breakers provides social and emotional language awareness training. The Ground collaborates with Defy Ventures, a nonprofit organization that tackles societal issues like mass incarceration and recidivism, to provide programs at Stockton, California’s Nightingale School and Kern Valley State Prison.
Procter has participated in a number of marathons and triathlons. She enjoys playing poker a lot and has taken part in a few celebrity poker tournaments. Procter also sings in a cover band from the 1980s called Motion, which was once known as White Lightning. Procter has done voluntary work at homeless shelters and with the Young Storytellers Program.
