Lester Barrie is a professional stand-up comedian, a former movie and television actor, and a Christian pastor from Southern California. Since 2011, he has served as the Senior Pastor of the Bible Believers Missionary Baptist Church in Lakewood, California. Barrie also does stand-up comedy in churches, colleges, and clubs across the nation.

Barry is currently the Associate Pastor of Atherton Baptist Church in Hawthorne, California, where he has served since February 2022. In 2006, Lester Barrie founded Better Church in Carson City, California, and after years of moving, the project changed the direction of the church. In 2011, we have been working with the membership and work Christian MBC.
Lester has also been very successful as a stand-up comedian over the years. In 1993, he won the Best Comedian Star Search Award, beating out a young Dave Chappelle. Chappelle has repeatedly joked publicly that he is more successful than Barry. When asked, Barry demurred, saying that he was a preacher before starting his career as an entertainer and that he was never “destined” to become an actor. Barry frequently mentions Chris Tucker (Friday Peak) and DL Hughley (The King of Comedy), actors who lost to Rice in comedy competition in the early to mid-’90s. Lester Barrie wrote the Dry Bar comedy special “A Fan of Marriage” and the stand-up comedy special “Super Saint,” available for purchase on Amazon. In 2009, he appeared as a stand-up comedian on Martin Lawrence’s “First Amendment Stand-Up” on the STARZ network. To this day, Lester Barry can be seen regularly at comedy and magic clubs in Hermosa Beach, CA and the Laugh Factory in Hollywood and Long Beach, CA.
