Bargatze began his stand-up comedy career in New York City at The Boston Comedy Club. He has been on The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon and Conan. In 2013, he was a member of Jimmy Fallon’s Clean Cut Comedy Tour, and he also won the New York Comedy Festival and the Boston Comedy Festival that year. He has written for the Spike TV Video Game Awards and performed for US Marines in Iraq and Kuwait. He was listed as one of the top up-and-coming entertainers by comedians Marc Maron and Jim Gaffigan. Yelled at by a Clown (2014), Bargatze’s first stand-up CD, spent two weeks on the Billboard Top Ten Comedy Charts, peaking at No. 2.

In May 2015, he released his second album, Full Time Magic, in conjunction with his Comedy Central special. As part of The Standups, Bargatze had a half-hour special broadcast on Netflix in 2017. In 2019, Bargatze released The Tennessee Kid, an hour-long Netflix special shot near Atlanta, Georgia.
