Dam-Mikkelsen began his career as a male magazine model in California before relocating to New York in 2011 on the recommendation of fashion photographer Mike Ruiz. While cultivating a famous clientele, he began working as a makeup artist under industry icon Pat McGrath. Simultaneously, he began modeling and performing in drag as “Miss.” Mary McCartney, a photographer, discovered Fame and included her in her book Devoted. She has also starred in Leland Bobbé’s Half-Drag photo series, which received international recognition and was featured in Vogue Italia. Dam-Mikkelsen is a New York City-based celebrity makeup artist who has worked on models and celebrities such as Eva Salvail, Snooki and JWoww, Martha Wash, Wendy Williams, and Michael Urie.
Miss was the first queen announced to be a contestant on RuPaul’s Drag Race during the “Ru-Veal” of the seventh season on December 7, 2014. She was eliminated from the ninth episode, “Divine Inspiration,” finishing seventh overall. After losing, she released the music video for “Rubber Doll,” the first song off her debut album, Beauty Marked. Alaska Thunderfuck and Violet Chachki, both Drag Race finalists, made cameos on the album, which was released on June 9, 2015. Fame signed with IMG Models Paris in 2016.
Miss is known for her high-fashion magazine work and partnerships with world-famous photographers such as Steven Klein, Giampaolo Sgura, Armin Morbach, Ali Mahdavi, and others. Miss Fame has appeared in Vogue Germany, Vogue Portugal, Vogue Paris, Vogue Japan, CR Fashion Book, PAPER, V Magazine, LOVE, CANDY, Tush, OUT, ELLE, and other publications. In 2017, she participated in the Christmas Queens 3 compilation album. Fame, along with other Drag Race alumni, appeared as a background dancer behind Christina Aguilera for Opening Ceremony’s Spring 2019 collection in September 2018.
