MacPherson departed Network Ten in October 2007 to work on the Seven Network’s City Homicide. Between 2007 and 2008, the show was the number-one Australian drama. During the fourth season of City Homicide, MacPherson left the show. After former host Daryl Somers resigned at the end of 2007, the Seven Network announced on August 3, 2008, that MacPherson would take over as host of Dancing with the Stars.
