In the College of Music, Alex studied accordion. He competed in several contests while there. When Alex graduated, he returned to the musical school, but this time he chose to study in the voice department. He was the principal vocalist of the Tula folklore group “Delight” for a brief time.
Alex got a gold medal for his solo performance in the Delphic Games IV in 2005. In the same year, Alex traveled to Moscow and finished third in a television competition. He eventually relocated to Moscow and competed in additional tournaments. He secured a contract with Universal Music Russia in 2006.
“The Eighth of July” was one of the most successful years in the history of St. Petersburg. He was one of the “Youth Eight” executors and was given the opportunity to sing during the closing ceremony. Alex earned an MTV award for emerging talents in 2007.

He returned in 2009, but was forced to withdraw owing to a scheduling problem at work. Alex was eventually picked internally to represent Russia in the Eurovision Song Contest 2011. He placed 16th overall in the competition. Vorobyov is back with music he wrote, created, and orchestrated himself after recuperating from a catastrophic vehicle accident in early 2013. The project, titled Friend, is a collaboration with his buddy, Russian actor Sergei Romanovich. The latter had already appeared in Laskoviy Mai, a film about the career of the same-named Soviet band.
