Von Monroe had always wanted to be a musician since he was a child. Dahvie Vanity, whose real name is Jesus David Torres, founded Love the Fashion in 2006 with Christopher Mongillo and Rebecca Fugate. Blood on the Dance Floor later changed their name and released their debut studio album Let’s Start a Riot in 2008. During the recording of the band’s second album, It’s Hard to Be a Diamond in a Rhinestone World, Mongillo and Fugate left. Garrett Ecstasy was brought in to replace them by Vanity. Monroe took over for Ecstasy sometime in 2009. Epic was Jayy Von Monroe’s first album with Blood on the Dance Floor and the group’s third overall.

It was not as successful as Evolution, peaking at number two on the US Billboard Top Electronic Albums chart, but it did garner significant attention. Blood on the Dance Floor released their seventh EP, Cruel Pornography, on August 8, 2015, via Dark Fantasy Records. The extended play, which included 11 songs, was well-received by critics. Scissors, Monroe’s last studio album with the group, was released on September 30, 2016. Three compilation albums have also been released by Blood on the Dance Floor. The Revolution Pack was released on October 30, 2012, and Blood Unplugged was released on December 20, 2013. Monroe and Dahvie split up in September 2016, and Blood on the Dance Floor disbanded a month later.
