Marquardt worked as an award-winning foreign correspondent for ABC News in Moscow, Jerusalem, Beirut, and London for the past decade. He was on the front lines of the Middle East’s wars and uprisings at the time, as well as reporting on the refugee and migrant crisis and Europe’s wave of terror attacks. Marquardt was one of the first correspondents in Cairo when the Egyptian revolution erupted; he traveled to Syria several times to report on the war from both the regime and rebel sides; he was on the ground in Gaza in 2012 and 2014 during Israel’s wars with the Palestinians, and he traveled across Ukraine as Russia’s military invaded the country.
