Mayo created and starred in the online sketch comedy Who Made Potato Salad, which also featured other black actors. Her first television writing job was as a writer for The Daily Show from 2018 to 2021, for which she was nominated for a Primetime Emmy Award for Outstanding Writing for a Variety Series. Mayo is a regular on the Facebook Live series Strangers. She has also had supporting roles in the films “Finding Ê»Ohana” and “The Farewell”. Mayo starred in the film “The Dark” in 2022. She has a supporting role in the Amazon series The Swarm. She is a main cast member of the NBC drama series American Auto, which aired for two seasons (2021–2023). In October 2023, it was announced that Mayo was considered for the role of After Midnight, a series that would take over the Late Late Show with James Corden following the departure of James Corden, but the role was ultimately given to Tyler Tomlinson. In 2023, she played Taylor Park opposite Megan Stolt in the film Treasures of the Smoky Mountains.
