Willard Morgan Biography
Willard Morgan is an American performance artist, filmmaker, and the founder and artistic director of the East Village art organization Ideal Glass. Morgan began his career in the 1980s downtown scene as a standup comic at Comic Strip (with host Jerry Seinfeld). He was heavily influenced by Jacques Lecoq and performed off-Broadway at Playwrights Horizons, directed by Austin Pendleton.

Willard Career
Morgan began his career as a stand-up comedian on the Comic Strip in the 1980s (co-starring with host Jerry Seinfeld). Strongly influenced by Jacques Lecoq, the play was performed off-Broadway at Playwrights Horizons under the direction of Austin Pendleton. Over the years he developed a regular repertoire and performed solo shows at BB King, Highline Ballroom, Japan Society (Manhattan) and La Scala nightclub in Paris. He is the lead vocalist and composer of the Ideal Orchestra collaboration, described as “a dynamic international group with excellent performances”.

As the creator of Ideal Glass, Morgan has created face-to-face films about trends, fashion and gentrification (Sweatshop Boogie, Days of Dandy, Silks & Satins. A prolific filmmaker, he has created unique and award-winning short films. His credits include Ralph Pape’s Say Goodnight, which ran off-Broadway for two years, and Gracie and Stanley Kramer’s last film, Milan Stitt’s Broadway play “The Runner Stumbles.”
