Mellor originally became obvious in 1990, when he played Ben Rowlingson in the youngsters’ program Kids’ Ward. In 1992 he played Paul Howard in Brookside. In 1995, he joined the cast of the drama Hollyoaks and played James “Jambo” Bolton until 1998.
