Nguyen arrived to the United States when he was two years old. Her family was sponsored to America by a family in Eugene, Oregon. Her work has appeared on The Today Show, 3rd Hour Today, The Nightly News with Lester Holt, NBC News Now, and MSNBC. Nguyen previously worked for KNTV, an NBC-owned and operated station in the San Francisco Bay Area. She worked as a senior investigative reporter for the NBC Bay Area Investigative Unit and as the host of the NBC Bay Area Sunday evening news. Nguyen previously worked at television stations in Florida, Nevada, and Arizona before joining NBC Bay Area. Nguyen began her career as a reporter for Central Florida News 13 in Orlando, Florida. She shot, wrote, and edited her tales while there before presenting live broadcasts.
She later worked as a nightside reporter and fill-in anchor for ABC affiliate KOLO in Reno, Nevada. Nguyen went to Phoenix, Arizona after her tenure in Reno to work for KSAZ. She was allowed to cover national stories at KSAZ. Alex Trebek, Tyra Banks, Shaquille O’Neal, and Senator John McCain have all been interviewed. Nguyen also covered the Baseline Killer and Serial Shooter investigations for KSAZ, which was the first time two independent serial killers struck the same city at the same time. Nguyen returned to Northern California in January 2007 and began working as a freelance reporter for NBC Bay Area. She was employed full-time as a special assignment reporter for KNTV shortly after.
She collaborated extensively with the NBC Bay Area Investigative Unit. Nguyen relocated from California to New York in April 2019 to take up a new position as an investigative and consumer correspondent for NBC News. She has appeared on The Today Show, 3rd Hour Today, Nightly News with Lester Holt, NBC News Daily, and MSNBC since joining NBC News.[Citation required] She is also a co-anchor for NBC News Daily.
